Malshi Dog (My EXPERIENCE With the Malshi Dog) Small Designer Breed

Spread the love

Are Malshis good dogs? As the proud owner of a Malshi dog named Wookie, I’m here to share my experience and answer that question. Wookie, a charming Maltese Shih Tzu mix, has been a beloved member of our family for over four years now, and I couldn’t be happier with our choice.

Let’s start with Wookie’s characteristics and appearance. At a little over four years old, she stands at 15 inches tall and weighs around 15 to 16 pounds, making her a bit larger than a typical Shih Tzu but still compact and manageable.

One common question about Malshi puppies is whether their coat color changes as they grow. Indeed, Wookie’s coat transitioned from a darker hue to a lighter shade as she matured, with her ears evolving from charcoal to a lovely light gray tint.

In terms of temperament, Wookie is a bundle of joy and energy. She adores her daily walks, eagerly jumping at the mention of the word “walk.” While she can be a tad stubborn, she’s also incredibly smart and loves learning new games, though she often turns them into playful tug-of-war sessions. Additionally, Wookie is affectionate and loves cuddling with the family, making her an excellent lap dog and a loyal companion.

As for socialization, Wookie enjoys interacting with dogs of similar size but can be cautious around larger ones due to past negative experiences. However, she’s generally friendly and loves learning from her canine peers during playtime.

In terms of vocalization, Wookie isn’t overly barky, only alerting us when someone enters the property or when she senses potential danger. With proper training and socialization, she’s learned not to bark excessively, making her a well-behaved and pleasant housemate.

Overall, Malshis like Wookie are affectionate, playful, and adaptable companions that fit well into various family dynamics. While they require regular grooming and exercise, their manageable size and charming personalities make them an excellent choice for both new and experienced dog owners alike. As for me, I couldn’t imagine life without our delightful Malshi, Wookie.
