On October 25, 2014, Underdog Rescue of FL received a distress call to assist in a hoarding situation in South Florida, collaborating with two other reputable rescue organizations. The mission: to rescue helpless animals trapped in dire conditions.
Today marked a breakthrough as volunteers managed to save six Shih Tzus, with Underdog Rescue taking in two – a male and a female – from this group. Shockingly, out of 18 dogs, only six were surrendered by the owner that morning. Determined volunteers continue their efforts to rescue the remaining 12 dogs.
Upon arrival, the rescued Shih Tzus were found dehydrated, malnourished, and severely matted. With tender care, including baths, haircuts, and nourishment, their once-dimmed eyes began to sparkle once more. Now, as they settle in for a good night’s rest, their journey to recovery is underway. Tomorrow promises a visit to the vet for thorough medical attention.
This heartwarming rescue story underscores the importance of compassionate intervention in the face of animal neglect. Thanks to the dedication of volunteers and the collaboration of rescue organizations, these Shih Tzus are on the path to a brighter, healthier future.
